Wow. It's kind of scary how much life can throw at you at once.

I just tweeted you this, but thought I'd leave a longer comment here. My dad had this surgery - complete w. replacement valve. It was definitely scary. But hospitals do this surgery regularly, and oftentimes, people will have a faulty valve and not realize it til it just gives up...then they have to have a replacement.

You would be surprised. After the operation, they literally get the patient right up and walk them around. Then, they have to tweak the medications, for a few months, which can be frustrating and kind of scary too. But, the patient generally feels much better - less fatigued, like their 'old self'...and the operation makes a big difference.

I have two friends whose parents also had the valve replacement. They are both fine - doing great, actually.

I hope this eases your mind. It's a big deal, and very scary. Whatever happens with your move, things will be okay. Things just takes time, sometimes.

I'm so sorry for all the turbulence lately. You and your family are in my prayers. Thank you for all the beauty you've introduced into my own dark days as a struggling grad student. I hope these gray clouds part soon. xo

I can't imagine how crazy things must be, how much there is to absorb, sort through, clarify. It seems like big changes are a-comin' (judging from your next post) and I'm so glad your mom is doing well post-surgery, and that you were all set to go be with her during that time. Whew! Sending you the best possible wishes for everything you need. :)
