Nectar & Light

this is a post of love.  having recently wrapped up our title, Instant Love:  How to Make Magic and Memories with Polaroids {to be released spring 2012}for Chronicle Books last month, i had thought i would have more time to play.  that was put on hold for a couple of weeks however, as we've been dealing with a great big pile of all those little things called life that can heap themselves into quite a monstrous little mountain when you're not looking. but everyone is feeling better, i am coming to terms with some other trivial things that have been stressing me out and finally - we {the girls and i} have agreed that happiness needs to reign supreme for the near future.

this weekend we listened to music, took naps, snuggled, watched movies - all while recovering from coughs and sniffles. and we played with magic. the impossible project released the new color film for the 600/680 series polaroid cameras - it's in it's beta version {hence the light splashes and white dots} but from what i have experienced this weekend - i am inspired anew, loving anew and so, so hopeful for the future of this medium which, in truth, is my livelihood.  so thank you.  thank you to the impossible project for continuing to work diligently to perfect the formulas, help the pioneers hone the craft and just being so damn awesome. i am so grateful to be walking on the long winding road with you on this journey...

 

hello friends... some of you may remember adie loves polly - we started and stopped twice due to my freaking out a bit about my dwindling stash of 600 film.  but for adie's birthday, her auntie gave her the fuji instax mini and she's in love and so happy to be shooting again.  polly is actually broken right now but i plan on teaching her how to shoot the impossible films as well as soon as she's fixed {daddy's an expert camera repairman}.  so i give you the brand new: adie loves polly.

and because ayla eve refuses to be left out of anything {she's my future tony award winner} - she asked for a blog of her own.  and after sharing a few snap shots of her self-styled looks - we had an idea.  read more here and visit all about eve here.

thank you so much for all of the birthday wishes last week for adie fey - you made her feel pretty amazing.  thank you.  some big news to share... last week i launched my new food portfolio, FOOD by jen - this week i am relaunching jeniferaltman.com to comprise of my kids+travel+fine art photography.  i hope you enjoy taking a peek and one of my favorite additions is sisters... enjoy!

see that girl? she is my baby. and she turns 7 today. how is that even possible? i think about the day she was born and my chest aches with longing - to hold her in the crook of my arm, to feel that sweet baby fuzz head against my chin - to inhale her intoxicating baby scent. but as much as it pains me to every year put further space between that time, i would not go back - watching her now, brings me new joy that i never could have imagined. she draws pictures with a refined hand and shadows and highlights - details blossoming across the page; she writes short stories and i can not tell you what joy it brings me to watch her sitting in a corner with a chapter book, giggling as she reads to herself.  she helps her sisters dress their dolls and get dressed. she will always be my baby - but at some point, unbeknownst to me, she became a girl. and i sit here, my eyes blurred with standing tears - wondering what alchemy created such unconditional love...
