i believe that most writers will tell you that writing is the easy part. when the words come effortlessly, dancing from your beautiful mind - tiny magic electric pulses that waltz across the keyboard; your heart flutters and you find yourself, from time to time - smiling. it is those vast wastelands of darkness in between those surges that are difficult. i would like to say that the process of writing this book has been a learning experience; but i have known myself for some time now. i know how easily i am distracted and how i can use a plethora of excuses to alter my path.
trying to write in a small apartment where nearly all spaces are communal ones has also been a challenge. in our house i used to bury myself away in my attic and write, edit - whatever i had to do - in silence and solitude. i would forget to eat and den would bring meals to me - he would come back hours later to find them half eaten. here, i go to my bedroom, shut the door, sit on the bed and try to focus.
and focus i must. i am signing off until after the new year... our manuscript is due in just a few weeks. i can't seem to stay away from twitter so if you are in the neighborhood, i will see you there from time to time. otherwise have a beautiful holiday - stay warm and cozy, fill your belly with delights and laughter... see you next year.

I'm all too familiar with The Block! Getting some fresh air and changing scenery often helps me. Sort of like rebooting your brain. I'm sure your efforts will be worth it.

me too. i'm studying for a major exam and in this new way we're living, (townhouse that is exactly like an apartment), i find myself easily distracted and unable to cocoon myself away from it all, even when no one is home. the only way i've been able to get work done is to leave the house for a cafe, which is becoming expensive, but at least i'll have a chance to pass my test!

I just wanted to drop in and say hello. I am incredibly inspired by your images and it wasn't until recently that I discovered that you had a blog. A short while back, I wrote a post about your Polaroid Notecards (that I love) and in the process, I found out more about you, and your work! Then the holidays came and I never had a chance to officially subscribe, or to come by and say hi... so in the process of ordering more of your notecards this morning (for Christmas gifts), I wanted to take a moment and do so. I see that you're taking a break (which I can totally understand), but I am now following you on twitter, and subscribing here- for when you 'come back':).
If you would like to see the post that I wrote about you, here it is!! (and GOOD LUCK) with your manuscript! http://torriesessions.blogspot.com/2010/10/note-of-inspiration.html
p.s.
I just saw that there's a journal coming out in February... I can't wait!

Wow - amazing! I like the blog - very nice and simple design but very aesthetically engaging!
As you can probably tell I am still learning how to edit and format my blog.
