Home

again, home again.  We are home, unpacking and delightfully road weary.  Thank you all for your sweet travel wishes.  Atlanta was - as always - so wonderful.  I felt my heart tug as we drove out of the city, I felt as if I was leaving home - and as we drove across the country - lush greens giving way to the flat, almost haunting landscape of the Great Plains, I knew simply by the way my body reacted that it is time to move on.  I am experiencing a lot of confusion - or maybe just so many conflicting emotions about the road ahead, the word 'home' seems to mean a great deal to me right now - yet, I am unsure of it's full definition.  What I do know is that I love the South with the very core of my being.   For a few more shots of our travels - and I do mean "few" - I was so busy holding on to babies that cameras did not get a lot of use, click here.

Glad you're back on the blog front and that your travels were safe. I have always wanted to see Georgia. There is something about the south that pulls at my insides.

someone told me once that certain events in life (like moving) are going to be stressful. often, we try to fight the stress, which only makes it worse.

but, if we just accept that this event is going to be challenging even in very exciting ways, you relieve the pressure you're putting on yourself to sort it all out and then feel more in control. i tried it during a very stressful time and it made me feel better.

Welcome home. It's wonderful to have you back in this space. It just occurred to me that you drove across the country with 3 little babes! Hats off to you.

Jen, I have a tree that looks just like this down my street. I took a picture of it with the Polaroid you gave me....it's funny how certain things just call to be captured. Funny we had a similar idea. (or course yours holds much more marvelous color!) I hear ya on the South! I love it! The culture, depth...it seems so artful, as well. Especially Atlanta...my favorite places are Buckhead/Peachtree area and Decatur...LOVE. There is a little shop in Decatur called Squash Blossom that I am in love with - a must see every time we visit. I'm glad your trip was great...I have the very same feeling that you wrote about when I leave New York City...it's confusing b/c it feels like my home...but I don't live there. I think your transition is one that pulls on the heart. Your roots are deep, you'll see the bloom soon enough. :)

this is one of my favorite images you've ever posted. it's gorgeous.
